First Lady celebrates Children’s Day with students ofVasudhaiva Kutumbakam | KNO

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 14 (KNO) : Mrs. Usha Vohra, First Lady of the State, participated in the Children’s Day Celebration programme organized by the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Welfare Society (VKWS), at the V.K. Sarvodya Middle School, Rajeev Nagar, here today. Students of the schools which are being run by the VKWS presented a very impressive cultural programme which included recitation of poems, storytelling, songs and dance items. Mrs. Vohra was particularly enthralled with the cultural presentations, especially the rendition of poems and stories which were composed by the students themselves. She complimented the VKWS for providing sound education to children belonging to the disadvantaged sections of the society and lauded the efforts of the teachers of the Society in moulding the growth of the youth to imbue them with confident, positive and happy personalities. Mrs. Vohra expressed appreciation of the Society’s endeavours to progressively enlarge its outreach activities and, on behalf of the Governor, assured financial support for their upcoming project which aims to promote education among girls from the remote areas of the State. Mrs. Vohra released “Surging Steps”, the souvenir of the VKWS, which contains creative writings of the young children and also presented scholarships to the meritorious girl students who have been adopted by the VKWS. Mrs. Ved Kumari Ghai, President of the VKWS, presented the Welcome Address, while Mrs. Chandra Gupta, Secretary VKSW, presented a formal Vote of Thanks (KNO)
